Great time on vacation in L.A. , I was out there so many times,a great place to visit, but always liked to come home to
the land in Ohio...:) Love the trees in Ohio...
Well, one day my brother Robert went to work and gave me his 1962 black convertible Caddy to
enjoy the day. Went to Capital Records and toured the bldg. I was very impressed
with it all! As the day came to close I got a call from Gary Markasky telling me
did I know Myron is in L.A.? Pat Benatar touring when I was in L.A...Lucky me!
Myron is going to call you later. He called and we talked for a bit about how
is was enjoying playing with Pat,he loved it! He says how would you like to come
to the show tonight.....I said for sure, got two tickets as I was going to take
my brother Robert to the show.
When he got home I told him of the tickets and he wasn't impressed. He didn't
want to go...WHAT!...So here I am with an extra ticket to the Benatar show at
the Hollywood Bowl that night.
Got there early to hang out, hoping to scalp the other ticket or find a nice
looking chick...:)I sat there for some time and this young kid saw I had an
extra ticket,he offered to buy it and I said was waiting or a cute chick to
take...:)
Well the show was to start and people were flowing in....I motioned for him to
come over and told him the ticket was his.He was very elated and said not to
worry all seats were cool to see the stage. He had been there many times.
As we handed the ticket guy our tickets,he directed us to follow him. This is a
very big place and I was in AWE at the least...well the guy keeps going down the
rows and I think COOL, great seats! We got to the front row where I thought we
would sit,but instead he opens the gate to the Orch. section and takes us to
front and center and seats us....To say the least I was freakin out
inside, thanking Myron in my head for such Great Seats!
The kid I brought in taps me on the shoulder and says who are you man.....I
Hahaha...I laughed and told him nobody, just a guy from Ohio...he said
bullshit, you don't get these seats unless you are important.I told him na,The
drummer in Benatar is a good friend. He was freaked out to have such good
seats, the best he had ever had!!
The show starts as Benatar takes the stage and stuns the crowd with that
Beautiful voice,so pure and so strong and it didn't hurt she was a cute pixie
type girl.very Pretty!
WOW! Then I saw Myron and there he was playing at the Hollywood Bowl, how Cool
was that!
Loved the whole Benatar show and when they finished I told the kid to enjoy
Eddie Money,he was coming on next,he wanted to know where I was going,I told him
backstage.I had not told him yet that Myron also gave me two backstage
passes.Well,I went backstage and there where three big trailer's put together so
you could walk through the whole thing. And as I took in the whole picture I saw
Rod Stewart get out of a white limo with a beautiful blonde...Wow,pretty
impressive...what a night this is going to be.
I saw Myron and he grabbed me up and we went in to this far trailer to the
right, many were partying in this room, very large indeed......Smoked one and we
hung for a while.Myron was being overwelmed by fans and friends....so I slipped
off to check out the rest of the place when Eddie Money and his brother come
running through, excuse us,excuse us.......they were supposed to be on
stage, everyone was laughing.....I didn't watch the Eddie Money show for I hung
with Myron,Pat,Neil and others having one hell of a good time. Myron was
Myron, great friend from the day,Wow the Hollywood Bowl....he always kicked the
shit out of his drums!
Hard Willow band was one example of Myron's past drumming. It was Myron's claim
to fame fame...Rock On my Cornersburg buddy!
Finally made it to the third trailer and it was a bar type setting...packed
with all kinds of important people dressed to kill....Great looking
chicks...:)So I looked for a place to sit and there was one seat at the far end
of the bar.Got a drink[rum&coke] and looked around....turn back around and
looked at the guy next to me and it was Rod Stewart, holy shit!...so what else
would come from my mouth, hows it going Rod,hoping he didn't tell me to piss
off,on the contrary he was very cool as he said hi and we talked for sometime.
Told him how I loved the way the album "Truth" from Jeff beck came out! Great
vocals!Great guitar!!Great album!
So,with a tip of his head and a sip from his drink he asks me what was your
favortie song I wrote, and I replied Maggie May.
He seemed to like that answer and talk about his songs a nice guy and very
humble one on one...:) Cool company for sure. Boy, was I blessed that night!!
Also, another of favorite artist's,Felix Papalardi was running around there too.
Wonder who else was there?
Eddy Money show was ending and I went out and sat next to the kid I sold the
ticket too and he was freaking out, front row for such great show!
He said were you back stage that whole time told him yeah and said how would
you like to go backstage as I slapped the pass on his arm,I thought he was going
to die! We went back in and partyied for some time...........
And Myron, getting me dream seats ,Thank You Myron for such Great seats and a
Great Performance....You always did kick the shit out of your drums!!

ATLANTA INTERNATIONAL POP FESTIVAL
JULY 3-4-5 1970
Jimi Hendrix / Star Spangled Banner
I was there and his last song was "The Star Spangled Banner",unbelievable night!
AND to think I and my friends where at the largest crowd of his career and the last major show of his life!
Jimi was Stunning.....
"Unbearable 115-degree heat caused this day's performances in the Second Annual Atlanta International Pop Festival to be delayed until late that evening. Jimi Hendrix was scheduled to have the prime slot that afternoon but instead went on after midnight. A crowd of 500,000 awaited him that evening, the largest crowd of his career. Jimi chose to perform this show with little theatrics. His focus was solely on the music."
