Music history of Jac Riblet
Sounds of Love and Compassion
Music may be one of the greatest gifts of all!
The Beauty of the Human Race is here....
Some of my music history. Since I post so many songs at different sites I would like to introduce myself, for those of you that do not know me and for those that may...:) My name is Jac Riblet, you may know me through a Rock & Roll site called Youngstownsrocknrollhistory ,which I host in a Yahoo Group since 2006. A passion of mine to save local music history. Or may enjoy my current Facebook page ,Jac Triangularthree. So here goes...:) I have always Loved Music and Singing and was brought up in a church choir and was sort of pushed into singing the lead on "Onward Christian Soldiers" (I was scared to death, then it became wonderful),as I had a higher voice and could carry a melody. Church lasted 15 years and then my life went from church singing to good old Rock n Roll...I was Hooked forever! So the next step was to be in a band I thought, my best friend then was Mike Scattergood who was a drummer so formed a band, wasn't to hard in 1964/65, as you got a couple more guys together and just said let's be in a band...:) and from that moment on you were... It was so easy in early Rock and Roll! And next came the proverbial question, what will be our name??? What should we be called,so as being from Canfield the school was called the Cardinals,naaaaa...we didnt care for that so the Bluejays came up...Hmmmmmm....we all seem to like that. Ok!...We were now a band called The Bluejays, played about 10 songs good and 10 more just alright...we were all new to this...as we were just a garage band,in those days that was the very Cool, the band lasted till Mike moved away and the Rt.11 freeway took our house and we moved to Cornersburg. The Blue Jays Bio. "The Bluejays",covering the Canfield area,we played garages and churches,Had loads of fun!Mike Scattergood-drums,Rick Brooks-guitar,Tom Breennan-guitar and Jac Riblet(myself)on vocals, our song list included...Like a Rolling Stone-DylanI Want to Hold Your Hand-BeatlesHanky Panky-Tommy James and the ShondellsTravelin' Man-Ricky NelsonLove Me Do-BeatlesLouie Louie-KingsmenLittle Black Egg-NightcrawlersShe Loves You-BeatlesHouse of the Rising Sun-Bob DylanCant Buy Me Love-BeatlesCant Help Fallin in Love With You-Elvis Presleyand Mike always played Wipeout,a great drummer! In Cornersburg, I went from Canfield Schools to Austintown and at 15 I met all my friends that would become my best friends forever. It was a turbulent time in music to many of our parents as they thought we were really weird,as I had to explain to my mom many times why a band would be called The Who...she thought they were goofy...:) She would say who would want to be known as The Who,no one would know who they were...I laughed many times and she would say she was serious,I said it was just the times mom,she didnt like it though...:) Many of my best friends, went on to be quite famous in their own right. Phil Keaggy John Sferra Gary Markasky Myron Grombacher Mike Pachelli What a great time it was! I use to sit down in the studio and just turn on the reel to reel, sometimes with friends as we were always recording something...:) And sometimes by myself late into the night, which was Magicial, and anyone out there that has created a song, how worderful it feels to listen to now that I am older...did I just say OLDER...:)hahaha...never! Jams and Friends: John Sferra ,an Excellant drummer and was quite good on guitar! John and I would play and sing song many days and nights,he was just naturally talented and a very unique person. We had many good times with some really good harmonies and songs that we created right out of our souls,at least we felt that way then...:) and may still.... Phil Keaggy, what can one say about Phil as he has always been one of the kindest persons I ever met, even before he became a Christian,he was that person. AND should I say he is one of the premiere guitarist then and now.Did you know he has been in a band since St Chistine school, where I believe he met John, friends forever they are...John and Phil! Gary Markasky,Gary has been a good friend and a most talented guitarist. Gary has played in some of the most legendary bands playing Northeast Ohio and Western Pa. Bands such as Coconut,we all Loved that band, loads of talent there! Michael Stanley Band was really trilling at the time for Gary and even his friends,we all went to many shows with Gary and Linda.great times were had by me when Gary would have me sing a few songs and he had recorded it for me...:) It was a GAS for sure,Gary is a Blast! Thanks for that one Gary, you made me sound like a pro...:) And now playing as The Gary Markasky Project,a band all should go see and enjoy a master on guitar! Myron Grombacher, a wild redheaded kid with a lot of spunk, we went everywhere together in Markasky's old caddy that fit about 8 to 9 people,or in Riblet's car(me) going to Packard music hall or to Jb's in Kent...:) or who knows where, keep in mind that we were all 15/16 years old. Got my drivers lis. in July 2nd 1966,we where always somewhere every night, and yes I mean every night, as there was always a venue that was happening with our favorite bands we loved! Occupants were different a lot cause our chicks were there too, but this was the main bunch when the guys took off somewhere...Anywhere....:) Jac Riblet Ed Hoffman John Sferra Gary Markasky Joe Blumetti Myron Grombacher Phil Keaggy George Frederick Larry Turney A little story about Myron: I was driving to school and Sferra was shot gun Ed Hoffman was sitting behind me and Myron was behind John,John was already a drummer in Glass Harp and Myron was tapping the back of John's seat and John says,Stop that Myron, sort of mad and Myron never taking nothing lying down,,,he says F--k You guys ,I'm going to be famous drummer someday,we all laugh and went on to school...Guess he showed us...:) ,Myron has also been in many great bandsR.M.A. Hard Willow and of course The Pat Benatar Band...what a career! Mike Pachell or Pachelli as he likes...:) Would go to Mike's and hang out in a very small room where he would write and play music, talk about more guys with talent,Mike can do it all,a very talented Classical guitarist background and may have been in more bands than anyone I ever knew ,he sent me a list one time,it was long! Mike is a new Daddy and Loving it,He still Rocks and Rolls in Nashville. Here is some of the music that came out of these recording sessions. Many are as we sat down and played..one time.. Hope you enjoy this song I wrote one night all alone in Ravenwood studio.
