DID YOU KNOW SERIES #19
Another First for Northeast Ohio's Rock and Roll History
Neil Giraldo
Northeast Ohio and Western Pa. has produced an amazing list of musicians, one I would like to mention tonight is Neil Giraldo, he is the distinctive lead guitarist of the band and has performed on all of Benatar's albums.
Born in Cleveland on December 29, 1955.
Giraldo also performed in Rick Derringer's touring band before working with Benatar.
So here is the Cool thing....another first for Northeast Ohio!
Neil Giraldo's appearance on the video for Benatar's "You Better Run" distinguished him as the FIRST GUITARIST on MTV. The video, the second ever aired on MTV, followed The Buggles, who had no guitar player. In addition to playing lead guitar, Giraldo is credited with composing and producing much of Benatar's work.
And let's not forget about two other musicians from Northeast Ohio that played with Pat Benatar,
Myron Grombacher and Mick Mahon...
As I said before Northeast Ohio is packed with talent!

Now this is really wierd....
In December of 1980, Beatles singer, songwriter, and guitarist John Lennon was shot and killed by an obsessed fan in front of the Dakota Apartment Complex in New York City.
His assassin was a man named Mark Chapman, a schizophrenic night security guard and general loser, who has been cooling his heels ever since in Attica Prison in upstate New York.
Five years later, NBC decided to do a biographical film about Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, entitled John and Yoko: A Love Story. Unfortunately, the actor they hired to play Lennon, unbeknownst to them, happened to be named Mark Chapman, making for one of those “you gotta be kidding me” moments Hollywood occasionally suffers from.

DID YOU KNOW SERIES #14
Brian Jones was originally the leader of the Rolling Stones
Lewis Brian Hopkins Jones (28 February 1942 – 3 July 1969), known as Brian Jones, was an English musician and a founding member of The Rolling Stones.[1] His main instruments were the guitar and the harmonica, but he played a wide variety of other instruments. His innovative use of traditional or folk instruments, such as the sitar and marimba, was integral to the changing sound of the band. He was originally the leader of the group, but Mick Jagger and Keith Richards soon overshadowed him, especially after they became a successful songwriting team. Jones developed a serious substance abuse problem over the years and his role in the band steadily diminished. He left the Rolling Stones in June 1969 to be replaced by guitarist Mick Taylor, and died less than a month later when he drowned in his own swimming pool.
